The first lock for living cells, built into the DNA.
BIOLOGICAL IP SECURITY
GeneLock™ encrypts the gene that makes your cell line valuable. Only the correct chemical passcode unlocks it.

Biology can be programmed.
Now, you can
encrypt it.
Cells are living factories. We have found novel ways to harness the power of cells to make the things we need, such as ingredients for medicines, cosmetics, household products, fuels, and food, in a way that is faster, better, and cheaper than traditional methods.
These engineered cells power a $1.5T slice of the global economy today, and each cell line is a genetic program worth hundreds of millions of dollars and years of R&D.
Cell lines are protected with locked freezers and legal agreements. Neither stops theft during storage or when the cells are shipped to a contract manufacturer, a licensing partner, or an overseas site.
That’s because, unlike software, the prevailing wisdom is that biology can't be encrypted. Until now.
How GeneLock™ Works
The gene that makes a cell line valuable is scrambled at the DNA level.
The cell doesn’t produce its valuable output until the correct sequence of chemicals is added.
Invented at Georgia Tech. GeneLock™ was invented by Dr. Corey Wilson with funding from the NSF. Published in Science Advances.
Independently red-teamed. In a biohackathon, a team with full knowledge of the system and full set of chemical inputs still couldn't break it. Unlike software, each attempt takes days of lab work.
Three industries.
One vulnerability.
Industrial Biomanufacturers
Enzyme, reagent, and specialty-chemical producers.
Pharmaceuticals
Companies developing cancer therapies, insulin, and other medicines and biologics.
Federal Labs &
National Security
Defense agencies and research programs working with engineered organisms and pathogens.
Our Team
Built by a Georgia Tech Professor and a seasoned startup operator, GeneLock is a revolutionary technology that secures the future of the biomanufacturing industry.
Dr. Corey Wilson
Love Family Endowed Professor, Georgia Tech School of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering. Inventor of Transcriptional Programming, the platform behind GeneLock™. $20M+ in research funding raised; eight years on faculty at Yale before Georgia Tech.
Founder & Inventor
Dr. Nammy Vedire
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Yale. A decade in deep-tech commercialization and enterprise go-to-market. Heading up Portfolio Success at Alloy and most recently served as COO of Metaimpact (Series A startup).
Chief Executive Officer“By combining the huge variation possible in DNA with many small chemical molecules and testing the system in this way, the work is both innovative and of vital interest to the security of biotechnologies at many levels.”
